| July 20-22, 2001. Even though it's the big annual gathering for out little
brother cars (Eclipse/Talon/Laser), we made a showing with about 40 or so
cars. Only about 15 Stealth/3000GTs actually raced during the drags Friday,
and 5 competed in the autocross on Saturday. It was a great chance to have
a "meeting in the middle" (of the US), with many of the major
3S shops in attendance. And while none of the long-standing records were
broken, there was some great racing, many faces finally matched up with
online names, and personally I had a great time, despite the fact that it
was 95 degrees and about 95% humidity BOTH days- UGH! Thank God for "Dollar
a Pound" ice cream!! Ultimately Matt Monet of Dynamic Racing posted
the fastest time of the day with a mid-11 run, but Jose of GT Pro was very
close behind. Matt had pretty much just thrown the car together in the past
couple weeks and Jose was on the track for his second time ever, and was
having big problems getting all 4 tires to stay hooked up!! Both posted
times in the 11's. Trent Karr got 3rd in 3S Quick 8 with stock turbos and
a run in the 12's. A black Spyder from Texas ran very low 13's. I ended
up eliminating myself from the bracket racing by beating my dial time by
2 tenths and setting a personal best in my car. On Saturday, there were
2 Stealth Twin Turbos, 2 VR-4's, and me in my lil non-turbo in the autocross.
I outran two of them, was one second slower than one, and 3 seconds slower
than the other. wheeee!! Anyway, enjoy the pictures... Some pages have comments
on them. |
