| The Cap Haitien Children's Home has been serving orphaned and needy children since 1987. Beyond the many children it has helped through the years, it has hosted visiting groups for projects all over Northern Haiti. Many American Christians and many Haitians have received their first impression of the Church of Christ through the orphanage. The orphanage was started by Evelyn Boyd, a nurse who came to Haiti to help with a medical clinic project. She enlisted the help of the church in Ada, Oklahoma, which began their long oversight of the work. She was followed by Bill and Pam Keefer, David and Sarah Dirrim, Tim and Debbie Vanderbeek, and now Ron and Dianna Cyphers. Ron travelled to Haiti for the first time in October of 2001, with two of the elders from the church in Ada -- and stayed. Although Dianna was unable to move to Haiti for almost a year, because of committments they had in the States, she jumped into the work wholeheartedly. Ron bring years of experience in education and working with children to the work at the orphanage. He and Dianna have made a home for more than 100 foster children throught the years, many with special needs. The orphange is currently serving over 50 children. We extend an invitation to all of our families and friends to visit our compound when you have the oportunity and share our blessings. For more information on current projects, needs, and how to help, please contact Ron and Dianna at the above email address, or the Elders at South West Church of Christ in Ada, Oklahoma at [email protected] |
