To a Bright Star

Amidst the lonesome stars of winter' s frosty sky
There shines one so bright that seems not to hurry
And makes me feel as light-hearted as a butterfly
Though the night be heavy and my heart melancholy.

No word can express its unique ethereal beauty
Nor music touch the innermost core of my being
And make my spirit soar on the wings of poesy
The way it sparkles high above forever a-roving.

Yonder lies the secret of life's arcane mysteries
Beyond galaxies unreachable and most unfathomable
Where departed souls commune under sacred trees
And birds immortal sing songs of love unalterable.

Alone in the hush of night wanders a lonely star
Oblivious to all but to the celestial light
To the vibrant pulse of the Universe from afar
The primeval source of man's Promethean plight.
