NIAGARA
Remember how we walked together
Ever so quietly by the wild waters
Of the mighty and lasting Niagara
One misty evening in late April
Merging our romantic thoughts
And dreaming of brighter days.
We were oblivious to those around us
But not to Natures powerful call:
The roaring waters from the Falls
Reminded us of our utmost fragility
Of the relentless march of Time
Beckoning us to seal our vows of love.
We wandered over the mysterious bridge
That spanned the foaming churning chasm
Marvelling at the eternity of things natural
And the mortality of all things human.
Within our ever grieving hearts
Loves invisible claws tugged at our soul.
How happy and yet how sad life can be!
One moment the Spirit soars so high
And the next it is despondent yet again
Oh! If we could only be like mighty Niagara
And let our dreams come true; Nature so strong
Is yet so gentle, Man so weak is yet so cruel.
The sky was overcast and sad our thoughts
As we strolled along the embankment.
We did not have any wish then
But to hearken to the voices of Destiny
Forgetful of our own weaknesses
Ever so mindful of Fates immutability.
