Slackjaw By Jim Knipfel

I redesigned this book. I felt that the original book cover did not do justice to what the book was about.

The synopsis goes like this:

And Job thought he had it rough. In his 20s, Jim Knipfel learned he had a rare, untreatable genetic eye disease and an inoperable brain lesion that was responsible for his depression and violent mood swings. This on top of a troubled marriage, a lack of any career prospects, and a severe drinking problem.

This is my interpretation of the book. I decided to keep the background gray because I felt that it reflected Jim's blindness. The angled lines represent all the chaos and darkness that was present in his life. I had the graphic lines overlap the title of the novel because that showed how Jim couldn't see his life like most people. He was, first of all, blind, but he also suffered from severe depression.
