WIN THIS BOOK
AND
SHARE YOUR LOVE OF READING
As
the father of four young children, he loved to read to them. Now retired, he wants to share his love of
reading with others by giving away copies of his favorite book!
As
a volunteer with Bedford Public Schools, Bill Werner has read to several groups
of students at Smith Road Elementary School from the book The Complete
Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis.
Now he is giving away to students who love to read up to twenty-five
new copies of this beautifully written and illustrated book. All students in the fourth through eighth grades
who live in Bedford Township, Michigan, are eligible.
The book, among the most popular
ever written for children, contains seven stories—“The Magician’s Nephew,”
“The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” “The Horse and His Boy,” “Prince Caspian,”
“The Voyage of the Dawn Treader,” “The Silver Chair,” and “The Last
Battle.” Check out the publisher’s
website at http://www.narnia.com to learn about the
author and the creation of Narnia and to tour the lands of Narnia and meet
the Narnians. Read the section on
“Discover the Chronicles” that has a short summary of each of the stories. Here is the summary of the first story, “The
Magician’s Nephew”: “Digory and Polly discover a secret passage
that links their houses, and are tricked into vanishing out of this world
and into the World of Charn, where they wake up the evil Queen Jadis. There,
they witness the creation of the Land of Narnia, as it is sung into being
by the Great Lion, Aslan.”
The book, ISBN: 0-06-028137-5, has 524 pages and a
list price of $50.00.
