Before the Tournament
- If you have
any questions about the tournament, contact Bill Werner, Tournament Director,
by e-mail at [email protected]
or by phone at 734-847-3446.
- If you need
to cancel your registration at any time before the tournament begins, contact
the Bedford Branch Library so that the chess pairings can be changed.
- Remember to bring to the tournament an inexpensive chess
set identified with your name.
During the Tournament
- Maintain silence during the
chess matches, except to announce check or checkmate.
- Remember that once you touch
a piece, you must move that piece, if you can legally do so.
- Be courteous to other players
at all times.
- When each game is finished,
set up the chess board for the next game, inform the tournament director
who won the game, and leave the playing area until everyone has finished
playing the round. If a game is
not finished in twenty-five minutes, the winner is the player with remaining
pieces having the most value, as follows: Queen – 9 points, Rook – 5 points,
Bishop – 3 points, Knight – 3 points, and Pawn – 1 point.
