History. It's a funny thing. Some things come full circle. Some things vanish into nothing. Some things just never go away. But everything...everything that ever happens, becomes history. Someone, somewhere, somehow remembers what has happened. The name of Adolf Hitler will go down in history for being one of the most evil human beings to have ever lived. He earned himself the title of "Antichrist". Who wants to go down in history in such a notorious manner? People want to be remembered for great things. Albert Einstein. Abraham Lincoln. Joan of Arc. Those are great names. To be written in the annals of history alongside names such as those would be an honor. That is what every human being hopes for. That is what very few human beings attain. That is what Nomad will attain.
No, Johnny, I didn't know Rick got away with 6 months probation. That's great.
-=- Nomad means what he says, but you can hear the amusement in his voice. It's the kind of amusment you get when someone is glad a situation worked out well in the end, but knows it shouldn't have happened in the first place -=-
He has to stay how far away from Catholic schools? ...Five hundred yards?! Wow, that's harsh. Well hey, at least he'll still be able to tag with me at Battlebowl, right? Good, good.
-=- Nomad is standing in his New York City penthouse apartment. He's looking out a pair of glass doors, gazing across the cityscape. He's talking to someone on a Uniden cordless phone. It's not hard to figure out that he's talking to Johnny Rage, one half of the Regulators. The other half of the Regulators is Rick Ramos, Nomad's partner in the first round of Battlebowl 2 -=-
Yeah, we're all set. I'm obviously in good ring shape, I've got a shot at the EWA World Heavyweight Title. I can only assume Rick is as good as ever.
...
A hundred pounds? What the fuck do you mean, he had to support the stock he bought in Little Debbie?! Ah, fuck it. He's a beast. He could gain THREE hundred pounds, and still lift ten times that.
...
You sold all the equipment in your weight room to pay for what?
...
Well, you did set the world record, right?
...
Guiness doesn't consider it an accomplishment to rape four hundred and six hookers in one twenty-four hour period?! How can they not?!
...
Jesus Christ, man, RON JEREMY couldn't do that!!!
...
He did?
...
Well shit, good for him! It's amazing that the ugliest man in porn can manage to get THAT MUCH tail.
...
Oh, I didn't know Rick made a porno.
...
No, it doesn't surprise me. What surprises me is that Sheena would put ANYTHING there.
...
Alright, man, I'll let you go. It's been good talking to you. Yeah, I'll see you at Battlebowl. Tell Rick I can't wait to get in the ring with him. Thanks Johnny. Bye.
-=- Nomad hangs up the phone and places it on a table nearby. He returns his gaze to the cityscape outside the glass doors -=-
It's been forever since I've even seen Johnny and Rick, let alone wrestled with either of them. My expecations when I signed up for Battlebowl were to meet the best of the best in the ring. I never thought the lineup would look like this, though. Better than I think anyone thought it would be. It's good to know I'm teamed with someone I know I can rely on out there. But still, I hate relying on anyone. It's going to make this whole thing so much harder than I'm used to. I stand alone. I go one on one, and I annihilate anyone standing on the other side of the ring. But what about the man standing behind me? I hate that shit. I know I can trust Rick, yeah, but what about anyone else? What if I'm paired in the second round with someone who would rather stab me in the back than win this whole thing?
-=- Nomad takes a deep breath and lets it out slowly -=-
I guess I can't think like that. The best course of action is to go out there and fight who I'm up against, and blindly trust who I'm paired with. If I don't, not only am I spread too thin, but I'm also distracted. So I'll just concentrate on taking Roman Tate and Xavier Scott out of the tournament. I've never heard of either of them, and there must be some good reason for that. There are people in this tournament that I've never encountered in my life, but still know everything about. Those are the guys to look out for. Xavier Scott? Roman Tate? Ha. They're a fucking afterthought.
-=- Nomad looks down at his hands, held out before him -=-
My time is done. I'm a legend in my own time. My accomplishments in the wrestling ring are enough to secure my spot in the history books. And moreover, it's just not like it used to be. I'm fighting tooth and nail to stay on top while the new younger guys climb the ladder faster than even I did. No, it's time to pass the torch. But not before I do one more thing. I have to win Battlebowl. I have to show everyone, including myself, that I'm not past my prime. I just know when to step down. I will go out there, and I will take out anyone who gets in my way. And at the end, when I stand triumphant atop the efforts of thirty-one other men, I will have made my final statement. I will have written my name in the history books. I will not be forgotten. And I'll see to it that everyone else in this tournament knows that I will stop at nothing to accomplish this.
-=- A slight smile creeps across Nomad's face -=-
Xavier Scott and Roman Tate will be the first to find this out. But they will not be the last. I am Nomad. I am an icon. I am a legend. And I am...HISTORY.
