In the story “The Rockpiles”, he made it as if that was the way he grew
up. As he was growing up, little by little he decided that he wanted to
write. He got all his characters together making it as if it was his life
they were living while he was writing. Basically what he did in his stories
was take his life and put it into them if he didn't already make it seem
that it was actually coming from him like in the poem “The Tropics of New
York.” So Its Basically Like his Giving us his life story througth his
writing.
Taima Elliott
I'm my childhood there was something like the Rockville in my neighborhood. The only difference is, it wasn't a rockpile it was more like a big yard with hills of dirt.
Directly across the street from my house was this yard of full of dirt. All the children from the neighborhood would go and play there. They would either ride their bikes up and down the hills or they would play fight up and down the hills. I would go to the hills with my older brother. He wouldn't let me play fight with him and his friends because he thought I would get hurt so I would just ride my bike on the hills and sometimes play football with him and his friends (two hand touch)
When my mother found out we was playing on the hill she told us not too because she knew it was dangerous. But of course, my brother and me didn't listen. So one day I was riding my bike up and down the hills when I fell off my bike. At first I got up and laughed because I thought I was ok, and then the pain hit me. I scarped me knees and the side of my face.
I learned my lesson by falling off my bike. My mother told me not to
and I did it anyway. I learned that I should listen to my parent. Because
of this I am the person I am today, which is obedient and well behaved
1. What was the rock pile? What usually happened at the rock pile?
The rock pile was a strange place to a mass of natural rock jutting out of the ground. What usually happened there is a group of boys from the neighborhood would come to play.
2. What does Roy decide to do that he shouldn't do? What is John's reaction? What happens to Roy? Roy decides to leave the fire escape without permission. John was telling him not to go because he knows they will get in trouble. Roy gets into a fight and then gets hit in the head with a tin can.
3. What important fact is revealed about the father just before he arrives. What is revealed about the father is he doesn't play any game and the boys are afraid of him so they will tell him the exactly what happened and the truth.
4. Describe the father changing emotions to the wife. At first he came in the house looking upset then he becomes caring when he found out his son was hurt but then he got an attitude when the wife was asking the questions he was asking the boy like she was the one in pain or who got hurt.
5. Why might the rock pile seem to call out to Roy? Why might not John be tempted by the rockpile? Roy is more daring and adventures then John. He like to go out and get dirty by having fun, but John is more of a school boy. He's into school work like, writing and reading

“A child cannot be taught by anyone who despises him, and a child cannot afford to be fooled”
"Every legend, moreover, contains its residuum of truth, and the root function of language is to control the universe by describing it."
Know from whence you came. If you know whence you came, there are absolutely no limitations to where you can go.
"The price one pays for pursuing any profession, or calling, is an intimate knowledge of its ugly side."
The world is before you, and you need not take it or leave it as it was before you came in.
You write in order to change the world, knowing perfectly well that you probably can't, but also knowing that literature is indispensable to the world... The world changes according to the way people see it, and if you alter, even by a millimeter, the way ... people look at reality, then you can change it.
James baldwin was a very much great thinker, you can see when you read
his quotes. He wrote because he thought when you write, you change the
world because you bring in new thought about yourself and that what make
people think.
