Daily Notes on Poetry & Related Matters

15 June 2005: It was plain from the start that one great advantage of my "long division into poetry series" is that the repeated template I use in it is ideal for sticking just about anything into and coming up with something resembling a poem. You don't have to stick much into it, either. I proved it once again last night when I wanted simply to fill in a little null time toying with said template. I tried a few different divisors, settling on "drinking," then spent an hour or two trying different Paint Shop special effects on the subdividend product of "Frame06" in my sequence. All I needed after that was a remainder. I tried "rain," but didn't think much of it. This morning I auditioned other texts, finally liking the one below enough to keep it.

As usual, I'm not entirely sure what my poem means, or how good it is, but I enjoyed making it, and feel there's something there. Most important, it took me away from arguing about what visual poetry is for a spell.
