5 March 2005: I'm now up to the P's in the catalogue for the Dudley Literary Show. I continue to think the show is primarily a conventional illumagery show. There are some very nice pieces in it, though. One that zang me before any of the others was the following piece by Mike Peters (which zang me first because it was used in the poster for the show):

This piece is taxonomically interesting because the only "language" it uses (aside from its embedded title) is mathematics, but it actually doesn't use the language of mathematics but a diagram illustrating something in mathematics. That is, it uses a bit of mathematical illumagery.
What it most is, for me, is "page art." The hole and ripped side make it that. Hence, it cousins "book art," a quasi "literary" art, and thus sneaks near to literature. No matter how one classifies it, though, It's terrific--and I can only feel why at this juncture.
