Daily Notes on Poetry & Related Matters

25 December 2004. I rarely if ever make occasional poems, but since it's Christmas and I can't think of anything else to put in the entry, here's the beginning of my first-ever Christmas poem:

It's a sincere expression of Me--but I'm also trying for accessibility and possible commercial appeal with it. The "sub-dividend product" should be easy--a mix of standard Christmas images--but with some kind of melancholy references to disappointments and loss, since Christmas tends to remind one of the passing of time. As it stands, it works pretty well as something for a student to finish. . . .

Hey, Merry, Christmas, everyone!
