Daily Notes on Poetry

4 October 2004. I'm running out of gas already, so will just post my latest Paint Shop illumage today:

It's the top quarter of a larger thing I did yesterday and liked, but there was something about its maroonish ring that appealed to me, and which the rest of the original piece distracted from. Hence, the wholesale cropping. The piece has something to do with woods, I'm sure, but more than that I haven't yet been able to make out. I think it's mainly "simply" a design that has enough in common with enough other designs I've enjoyed over the years, and enough not shared with them, to pleasure me, the way the equivalent in music might. One thing I know: it's not a poem. But I expect I'll use it in a mathemaku before long.
