Daily Notes on Poetry

18 September 2004. Excerpt from a Taxonomical Essay on Visio-Textual Art, Part 2

The next poem--actually an excerpt from a longer poem (Unclear Family)--is the one not from Industrial Sabotage by Damian Lopes. I chose it because it neatly demonstrates the litagrphic sequence, a variety Industrial Sabotage has few, if any, examples of. Here all is words acting out the drama of a divorce followed by a remarriage, and the effect of the two on a boy and girl. The juxtaphor, words-on-a-page-as-people-in-marriages, and related juxtaphors make the sequence a litagraph of the first degree.
