Daily Notes on Poetry

13 June 2004. This morning I finally made the mathemaku using one to the power of one that I wrote about here two weeks or so ago:

I strongly suspect I'll work on it some more. I may enlarge the fourth exponent; I'll almost surely do more with its coloring, which I moderately like now but think I can do a lot more with. I plan to use it in the workshop for kids I'll be presiding over soon--if enough parents sign their kids up for it. One of my five sessions will be on mathematical exponents and other mathematical symbols. Meanwhile, I'm feeling my way toward some kind of anthology of pluraesthetic poems for kids (poems, that is, that make significant use of more than one expressive modality--words and graphics, for instance, or words and math).
