Sydney 92 - NORTH MELBOURNE 94

North Melbourne defeated Sydney for the second time in as many games against Kings, and stretched their winning streak to four games. The Giants led from start to finish, but Sydney rallied to get within two points with less than a minute remaining. The Kings had a chance to send the game into overtime, but Melvin Thomas' tap-in with 10 seconds left on the clock was astray. "We have lost twice when the game was on line and couldn't come up with the big offensive play to win," Sydney coach Alan Black said. "Losing two in succession was not exactly what I had in mind for the start of the season and we must win against Perth ... to take our first home game."

Sydney: Thomas 30, Burton 19, Dickenson 12, Bolden 10, Whitehead 8, Trahair 6, Williams 4, Rosen 3.

North Melbourne: Stiff 17, Reidy 17, McDonald 16, Mitchell 15, Goodwin 11, Johnson 9, Shanahan 7, Reece 2.
