The following is the current AYSO approved dress code for
referees. The soccer community identifies referees and assistant referees by their
unique apparel. AYSO Officiating's goal is to have three trained officials
at every game, properly dressed, and equipped. This goal not only applies
to uniformity and consistency in the application of the Laws, but also,
to the appearance of the officiating team.
AYSO Officiating and the National Referee Commission encourage all referees
and assistant referees to follow these recommended uniform guidelines. It should be noted that many regions provide to their referees, shirts with colors specific to that region. Though not a part of the official AYSO uniform dress code, it is the opinion of Area 10B, that these shirts are appropriate if worn within the region. These uniforms may not be appropriate for tournament, Area, Section, or inter regional play. Please use your best judgement.

The referee and assistant referees should match, thus appearing as a team on the field. If the referee chooses to wear an alternate jersey which the assistant referees do not have, then the assistant referees should at least match each other. Uniformity on the part of the officials is very important, thereby, establishing initial credibility for them as a team. Local conditions and common sense may dictate some variations from these recommendations. However, use these guides whenever possible.
