| Brandon Baker - Sophomore ![]() |
Brandon Baker Brandon had a very successful season this year. Considering the fact he had mixed emotions about running CC this year, we're all pleased he made a decision that helped the team. As Brandon puts it now, "...after this year, I realized how much fun it was and how good of a coach Russ is. I know next year he'll work me hard enough to achieve my goal of running in the 16's for my first time and hopefully get to State (before I graduate)." Brandon enjoyed running at the front of the pack this season. He was mainly our 2nd man, but challenged Winghart in some races. |

He established his best times at Troy (17:49 and 17:40), Buckcreek (17:34) and his personl best came at our invitational (17:13). Brandon liked the Beavercreek Invitational the most this year. He placed in the top "10" in the frosh-soph race and got a plaque for his efforts. Troy was his favorite course due to the terrain but the competition pushed him to his best level. When asked about the best things he enjoyed about CC this year, Brandon was quick to point out camp and the trips up north. He feels the Malone trip brought the team together. Brandon has his sights on getting a business degree in college someday. As a final comment, Brandon would like to tell senior Tom Bertling that he will miss him next year. "Tom, you have been a good inspiration to me and you taught me that even if you have a few bad races that you should never give up and keep trying."

| Bethany Crabtree - Sophomore ![]() |
Bethany Crabtree Bethany's profile begins with one of her favorite quotes, "The race is not always to the swift, but to those that keep on running." Although Bethany is "swift" in comparison to many other schools' runners, she likes this quote to encourage everyone to continue to work hard and keep on running. With that in mind, you'll continue to win "your own race" within yourself and be a champion regardless where you end up in the final statistics. Bethany's personal "favorite race" this season was the OHSAA District Meet. "I loved my finishing kick, and I felt strong both mentally and physically during the entire race. It felt so awesome when we heard we qualified for Regionals!" (bc note: this is the first time Wayne Girls have gone to Regionals since 1990 season). Troy is Beth's favorite course and she feels that CC Camp is one of the top highlights of the season. Her best time of (22:07) came at the Buckcreek Invitational. Her (22:33) at Mentor was he second best time of the year. |

Bethany's immediate goals are to focus on Track this spring. She also wants to do more mileage next summer with some weight training (which she hates). In the future Bethany always wants to run, even if it's not for competitive reasons. She would like to try a Duathlon, hike the Appalachian Trail, and see Colorado. Her career sights are to possibly go into Pediatrics or Surgical Nursing.
