The lightweight division

For more insight into the history of the lightweights A Pictorial History of Boxing (S. Andre & N. Fleischer, 1987) is a recommended read (This book follows the history of every weight class, division by division - lightflyweight to heavyweight). Lightning Strikes (G. Suster, 1994) concentrates solely on the lightweights and is also worth a read.
For an introduction to the achievements of the all-time greats The Boxing Register (J. B. Roberts & A. G. Skutt, 1997) is a definite read. This book contains a profile and ring-record as well as a list of (at least) selected bouts of every boxer that has been selected to the International Boxing Hall of Fame and includes Joe Gans, Battling Nelson, Ad Wolgast, Benny Leonard, Tony Canzoneri, Ike Williams, Alexis Arguello and many more. Other books to check out for short profiles of great champions are among other: Boxing Heroes & Champions (B. Mee, 1997) and A Century of Boxing Greats (P. Myler, 1997).
In boxing magazines one can also find profiles with more in-depth details and anecdotes - P. Erhmann, a regular contributor to The Ring, has written great pieces on old-timers among other Battling Nelson & Ad Wolgast as well as 'Cyclone' Johnny Thompson.
For the most thoroughly presented list of championship fights in the lightweight division (as well as any other weight) one should turn to The British Boxing Board of Control Yearbook, the volumes 1995 to 1998 (B. J. Hugman). The Ultimate Encyclopedia of Boxing (H. Mullan, 1996) also contains a very well-arranged list of world title bouts.

Literature on Danish boxers

Literature containing material on Danish boxers apart from Battling Nelson and Kid Williams is very sparse in English. Many Danish boxers have actually written (or co-written) autobiographies - Dick Nelson, Emanuel Jacobsen, Knud Larsen, Jørgen Johansen, Chris Christensen, Børge Krogh and Tom Bogs. Profiles of the biggest 'names' in Denmark, from Jørgen Johansen Johansen to Brian Nielsen can be found in Ringens mestre (K. Thyboe, 1995).

Finding literature on the Internet

To my experience the best places to find and buy boxing-related books are Amazon.com and Lion Street books. For new books on boxing turn to Amazon.com, but should you need older titles or want first-editions check out Lion Street Books.
