I’m lazy today so I’ll just let Chandra do the game report
ok -
to start with, i realize the file i sent this morning got really messed up.
i had everything in properly, but then i got the "blue screen of death"
while writing the mail and everything went awry. so - disregard all the
wrong stats from this morning (the wrong file was attached ton the second
attempt) - these should be correct now. but, if you see anything wrong, let
me know, please.
play(er)s of the game:
defense:
joe rotolo at third: caught three pop flies to third and had an awesome 6-3
play with doug (on first) for the first out of the seventh inning.
offense:
doug dumont on first: batted a thousand with a single, triple and 2 home
runs. and yes, SEVEN RBI's - that's not a typo. he banged in almost half
the team's runs.
overall:
sean andersen (left center field) and steve maclean (left field) were
fighting it out for this honor. andersen had a strong bat with two doubles
and a home run, and four big catches in the outfield. two of which were the
last 2 outs of the game to put down the other team in the seventh 1-2-3.
maclean got on base all four times he was up and also made some great
defensive plays to hold off the other teams would-be come back.
play(s) of the game:
yet another double play in the fifth inning (5-4-3) from pete to dave to
doug.
bob demarle had some great catches in the game. one off the fingertips in
the first inning and another solid catch to end the fifth after the
aforementioned double play.
rich champlin put on another slug fest. unfortunately, the balls he slammed
were "just foul" as they say, but he still batted a thousand with 3 singles
and a double. great pitching held the other team to only 7 runs, and doug
kept him running those bases. ;)
don capuano had 2 great catches in right center field in the forth inning to
save a few runs.
shawn malone smacked a couple of balls for a double and a solid triple down
the left field line. he also originally brought doug to the team - way to
go :)
scott smith was a great DH, but also played the field in the top of the
first (with gordon pennesten) since a couple the guys were late (not to
mention any names, but joe and sean, you know who you are..) scott got a
couple of strong hits and a RBI. He helped us out after playing an earlier
game, too.
