Cobbs Hill – It started off as a rather typical Rochester weather, gray sky and chilly, I wasn’t able to round up enough confirmation to field a team without an automatic out. It was our big day, after weeks (stretching the truth here) of practice we were going to display our hours of batting practice and fielding prowess out in public (okay so we only have 2 fans to the game). As my digital CASIO watch displayed 5:50, everybody that said they were going to be there were. (a special thanks to Andrew for coming out on his bye week to see if we needed that extra player). The lineup was, Don leading off and playing center right field, Pete playing short, Sean playing left field, Rich C. pitching, Dave L playing first, Joe playing third, Rich D playing center left field, Mark playing right field, Gorge catching, and myself playing second.

We had a promising beginning, loading the base at the top of first but we weren’t able to capitialize on the opportunity. Westerners, our opponents scored a couple in their inning, and this seesaw battle of hits and run continued until the top of 6 when we were down by 6. We managed to narrow the gap to only 3, but we didn’t have the firepower that night, final score 9-7. A great close game with slick fielding and good base running, the season is young and this team looks very promising as a championship team.
