Here are the game grades:
Roy Boone: B
Roy had a bad stretch in the second half where he was really playing out of control (turnovers and forced shots), but for the game, he was the top offensive threat once again with 18 points and was very assertive on the glass and active on defense (3 steals).
Andy Kowske: B
Kowske had a lot of trouble finishing inside against the shot blocking machine Morris, but was incredibly active. He was a force on the glass (10 rebounds) and his super defense on BB Waldon over the last 10 minutes gave the team a chance to pull out the win. Made only 1 of 6 free throws which continues to be a concern.
Charlie Wills: F
Just a pretty forgettable game for Charlie as he missed all of his shots, committed fouls, and was eaten alive by Waldon over the first 5 minutes of the game.
Kirk Penney: B
Didn't get a ton of looks, but hit some big shots down the stretch including the big one with less than 30 seconds to go in regulation, finishing with 11 points. Had some shaky moments against the press.
Mike Kelley: B
Kelley didn't shoot the ball well from the field or the line, but had 4 assists without a turnover (against some excellent pressure). He did a nice job on Altan Jackson in terms of making him take tough shots and limiting his shots in general, though to his credit, Jackson knocked his share down.
Mark Vershaw: A-
Vershaw had arguably his best game of the year finishing with 14 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. He also did a solid job of handling the half court pressure from the high post position.
Ricky Bower: C
Bower's minutes were limited, presumably because he wasn't going to be able to get his shot off against the athletic Bulls, a fact borne out by his 0 shots in 4 minutes.
Maurice Linton: B+
Did a much better job of looking for his shot within the offensive system resulting in a 4 of 6 shooting day. He also had 4 rebounds in 21 minutes as well as 2 blocked shots and a ton of energy and emotion.
Travon Davis: C+
Saw some extensive time when the Badgers had trouble handling the press. Travon did a pretty good job until a rough turnover. Davis penetrated and fired twice without any luck, though did have two dishes.
Dave Mader:INC
Played 3 seconds defending the last USF inbounds play.
