HISTORY: The Red Devils entered BLOBB in 2000 as an expansion team. In their inaugural season, they got off to a slow start before picking up steam after the all-star break at which time they contended for the money positions before tailing off late and finishing in 7th place. The Devils featured a balanced speed attack and good starting pitching in Curt Schilling, Kirk Rueter, and Shawn Estes.
BEST TRADE:In 2000, the Devils traded Ken Griffey and Tom Glavine to the Ticks for Sammy Sosa, Russ Ortiz, and Desi Relaford. Despite heavy criticizm from other league members, Sosa outperformed Griffey by a substantial margin and Russ Ortiz got red hot in the second half and nearly matched Glavines overall numbers. The trade put the Devils in contention for much of the second half of the year.
