Purdue Boilermakers
January 10, 2001

Here are the game grades: Andy Kowske: C-
Kowske finished fine, but just didn't get as many opportunities as he needs to (when he is at the top of his game). He only played 25 minutes with some moderate foul trouble and didn't do a bad job defending, though he really didn't excell either, allowing a couple uncharacteristic easy hoops in the second half.

Charlie Wills: C+
Wills was a steady presence on the court, notching 4 points, 4 boards, and a couple assists.

Roy Boone: B
Boone's outside shot wasn't falling early and he forced some shots until he got to the line a few times and really got things going, upon which his shot came around. Boone finished with 20 points and 6 rebounds, though he committed 2 key turnovers during crunch time that proved very costly.

Kirk Penney: B-
It was a quiet but solid game for Penney despite a reduced role in terms of playing time. He took solid shots and continued his improved play on the defensive glass. He had a little trouble with the quickness of the Purdue guards but adjusted fairly well it appeared.

Mike Kelley: C-
Looked for his shot a bit more, though still couldn't hit a jumper to save his life. Without the ball in his hands as much, he was limited to only 2 assits and had 2 turnovers to negate those. Defensively, he did a nice job on Maynard Lewis to start the game, but failed to put the clamps on subsequent assignments once Keady went in other directions. Spent key parts of the game in foul trouble.

Ricky Bower: C
Missed an uncontested 3 but was generally not a liability on the floor.

Mark Vershaw: D+
Vershaw was much more active offensively with 5 assists, though he still could not find the range on the interior, missed some key free throws, only had 3 rebounds, and allowed Rodney Smith to explode in the second half.

Maurice Linton: C+
Mo was in serious foul trouble which limited his minutes to 18. While he was in the game, he was a factor with 7 points (primarily on jumpers) and 5 rebounds. He was his usual sloppy self with the ball, but more time on the court for Linton would have really helped.

Travon Davis: B
Played about as well as he is really capable of, including a couple of quick drives to the hole, and an assist to turnover ratio of 3 to 1. Still, he couldn't hit anything outside of a layup and he didn't generate as much movement in the offense as I would like.

Freddie Owens: INC
Played the final minute as a designated fouler.
