Purdue Boilermakers

1/28 Update: Here are the game grades from the basketball game against Purdue:

Andy Kowske: B
Kowske was very effective defensively as he spent some time on Cardinal and went toe to toe with him, containing him and especially getting out to the perimeter to take away the "3". ON offense, he didn't get too many looks, though he made his free throws and was solid on the glass.

Charlie Wills: A-
Wills minutes were limited due to illness, but when he was on the floor, he gave the team a spark (7 points in 11 minutes) and provided a lift when foul trouble struck.

Roy Boone: C
Boone was dreadful in the first half, missing shots and turning the ball over. But, when called on at crunch time, Boone delivered some key plays on both ends of the floor.

Kirk Penney: D
Poor shooting but even more troubling was the out of control play, resulting in 6 turnovers. Penney did do a nice job of keeping Michael Robinson off the offensive boards.

Mike Kelley: A-
Totally shut down Cornell despite being in some foul trouble. 8 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steals, and no turnovers. Kelley is the steadying force on this team.

Jon Bryant: B-
Did a nice job on Cornell when Kelley was out, a part of his game that he has brought up to another level this year. Hit a couple of 3's and even the misses looked better than they have back when he was really slumping.

Mark Vershaw: B
A nice consistent effort out of Vershaw. He was pretty physical and scored on a nice variety of shots around the hoop while being a bit stronger with the ball.

Maurice Linton: C
Once again did a better job of being under control, though didn't really add much.

Travon Davis: B
Travon played his second straight nice game as he was forced into major minutes early due to Kelley's foul trouble. Davis was able to get into the lane a few times, both for his own shot as well as for the dish. Only 1 turnover in 19 minutes while snatching 3 rebounds.

Duany Duany: D
Missed his only shot with a turnover. 2 rebounds.
