1/15 Update:
Here are the game grades from Thursday's basketball game against Ohio State:
Andy Kowske: D
Kowske was completely taken out of the game by the inside presence of Ken Johnson. Combine foul trouble with poor shooting, and limited board work to the fact that Johnson was also able to contribute offensively, and you get a pretty forgetable game for Andy.
Charlie Wills: D
Similar to Kowske, just in fewer minutes.
Roy Boone: C
Another 1 for 8 game continues Boone's slump. To his credit, he took better care of the ball, got some rebounds (7), and did a terrific defensive job on Scoonie Penn.
Kirk Penney: B
Getting his first major minutes of the year, Penney was the primary Badger offensive threat. Kirk scored 12 points and did not turn the ball over while also getting his teammates numerous shots off of his penetration (most of which were not finished).
Mike Kelley: B+
Kelley did an admirable job on Redd (better than last year, 6 for 15) despite being the victim of a couple of Redd plows through him to the hoop. Offensively, Kelley added 10 points without a turnover.
Jon Bryant: F
0 points and 2 turnovers.
Mark Vershaw: B-
Vershaw again had some trouble going inside against the Buckeye defense, hitting on just 6 of his 14 shots. He did contribute 4 assists without a turnover. Only had 3 rebounds, which is what usually happens against the more athletic teams with Mark.
Maurice Linton: C
1 board and 1 point in 1 minute. Linton has played himself right out of the rotation.
Travon Davis: D
Missed both of his shots again as he continues to be unable to finish after penetrating moves. Had one turnover but did add 2 boards, an assist, and a steal. I think Travon still has a place with this team, but he hasn't quite learned when he can do things and when he cannot.
Duany Duany: D
Penney took most of his minutes. 1 of 4 from the field with a rebound.
