Ohio University Bobcats
December 9, 2000

Here are the game grades:

Andy Kowske: A-
Kowske was a force on the boards (11 rebounds) and did a marvelous job on Hunter, totally elimating him as an offensive threat. Tack on 4 steals and 4 of 5 shooting and you have a solid all-around game. Free throw shooting needs to come around.

Charlie Wills: C
Seemed a bit too eager to shoot and wasn't really a factor in the game on either end of the floor after an early 3.

Roy Boone: A-
Boone was the key offensive component today as he hit on a wide variety of jumpers, slashes, and breakouts on his way to a solid 17 points. Boone also had a solid floor game (4 assists/3 rebounds) while forcing pesky point guard Ford into some bad perimeter shots.

Kirk Penney: B
Penney's shot wasn't dead-on like it has been recently, but he did score 13 points and did a nice job picking up his fair share of garbage rebounds (6). He was also strong with the ball (2 assists without a turnover).

Mike Kelley: B
Kelley was hampered by some questionable foul calls which limited his minutes. Kelley hit an early perimeter jumper and actually looked to put it up a few more times, but with little luck (1 of 5 after that). He made his free throws and didn't turn the ball over.

Dave Mader: C
Limited time. Mader hit a late garbage bucket late and had 4 points.

Mark Vershaw: C
Generated some offense with his superb passing, but was careless with the ball in the post early and didn't look to shoot much. His perimeter shooting has been way off from last year thus far. Added a couple of blocked shots on the interior and did a respectable job on the glass and had 2 steals for good measure.

Ricky Bower: D
When his shot isn't falling, he isn't of much value other than just eating up minutes. His shot wasn't falling today.

Freddie Owens: B
Freddie gave the team some solid minutes in relief. He missed his only jump shot but did a nice job of getting to the free throw line. Didn't make any glaring mistakes. Freddie, while not a star, is sure making the idiots who wrote him off before ever playing a minute look like....well...idiots.

Kyle Gruczynski: C
Missed his only shot, though he elevated well and looks to have gotten his hands higher than they were last year during the state tourney which is a good start for him in developing into a Big Ten player down the road.

Ike Ukawuba: B
Had a rebound...ran down the floor hard.

Pete Schmitt: C
Couldn't buy a bucket from the field and was on a pace for an 0 for 40 performance if he had played 40 minutes.
