4/9 Update: After a much needed break, here are the game grades from Michigan State-Wisconsin Final Four matchup from last Saturday:
Andy Kowske: D-
Kowske had a tough time establishing himself inside due to strong MSU physical play as well as foul trouble. He was only able to generate 2 shots and finished without a rebound. Andy did block 4 shots though.
Charlie Wills: F
Had trouble with his shot selection again (though he nailed one of them early on) and only grabbed one board in 19 minutes of play. Charlie also seemed to have some trouble on the defensive end with the Spartan's quickness.
Roy Boone: B
Roy was the one shining star for the Badgers on the offensive end as he slashed and cut for 18 hard earned points. However, his assertive play also had some pitfalls as well, as Boone committed 5 turnovers in 25 minutes of play.
Mike Kelley: B
Fared pretty well against Peterson for most of the game off of the initial offensive set, but had trouble keeping Morris off of the offensive boards, where Peterson did some damage in the second half. Had a team high 7 rebounds off of the defensive glass, snatched 2 steals, had 3 assists and no turnovers for a very solid floor game. Mike was in some foul trouble which limited his minutes.
Jon Bryant: D
As expected, Jon just couldn't shake the tight D of Charlie Bell, as he was held to just 5 (often forced) shots, hitting just 1 of them and committing 2 turnovers. Did a repsectable job on Bell defensively.
Mark Vershaw: F
Completely manhandled on the offensive end. Vershaw shot just 2 of 11 and was obviously completely out of rhythm. He, like the rest of the Badger frontline, was also overwhelmed by the Spartans on the glass.
Maurice Linton: F
Limited minutes, 0 for 4 from the field, 2 turnovers, and only 1 rebound. Nuff said.
Travon Davis: B
When Kelley had to sit due to the foul trouble, Travon held his own during his time on the court. For the game, he actually knocked down a 3, grabbed a couple of boards, and had an assist (no turnovers) in only 10 minutes.
Duany Duany: F
Like Bryant, Doc had a hard time getting open against the aggressive defense. He went scoreless (2 shots) and was a non-factor on the floor.
Kirk Penney: B
Provided a spark off the bench, hitting 2 impressive looking 3 pointers on the move and was strong with the ball (no turnovers), a trend he will need to continue for next year. He also held his own underneath the hoop.
Faust, Smith, Swartz: INC
