2/17 Update: Here are the game grades from the basketball game yesterday against Michigan:

Andy Kowske: B
Was a solid factor throughout the game, hitting on a variety of medium range jumpers and long hook shots. Andy was also very active on the offensive glass, an element not often seen on this team.

Charlie Wills: C
Didn't shoot the ball well, but was provided some solid supporting minutes, grabbing a few rebounds and adding a couple assists.

Roy Boone: A
Shot the ball better than in any other game as a Badger, mainly from the perimeter on his way to 17 points. Also created on offense and did not commit a turnover.

Kirk Penney: INC
Got a needed game off as his play has been terrible as of late and it appears that he needed an extended rest. With Linton's improved play, I would look for similar playing time this weekend.

Mike Kelley: C
Was in moderate foul trouble again, though with the way the Badgers were shooting, it was of little consequence. Controlled Gaines for most of the game as Gaines put up most of his points when Kelley was off of him. A couple assists and one drive to the hoop, but little else on offense.

Jon Bryant: B
Shot the ball well and made Michigan pay for it shoddy perimeter defense. I also liked his minutes, kept at 16, as I think it allows him to retain that spring in his step and actually produce more than when he plays extended minutes (though I would have to study it to be sure). Zero turnovers.

(NOTE: I went back and checked and there really isn't any evidence to support my little theory about keeping his playing time to under 20 minutes. In fact, most of his better games ahve been playing 30+ minutes. Now, whether this is because he is playing better BECAUSE of the extra minutes or whether he is getting the extra minutes BECAUSE he is playing well is anybody's guess.)

Mark Vershaw: D
Wasn't really needed but seemed a bit out of sorts again, only shooting 2 of 6 with 3 turnovers. Seemed to rush a couple of his jumpers. Had 4 rebounds but had a couple loose balls that I thought he should have corralled but didn't.

Maurice Linton: C+
Did not hit for my predicted point total of 15, but was very active on both ends of the floor. Hit on some early mid range jumpers and added a little of this and that(a nice pass, some shot blocks, a few boards). 3 turnovers which is too many but expected with Maurice. Did a super job of forcing Blanchard to shoot from the perimeter.

Travon Davis: B
Played fairly well and with a ton of energy. Couldn't make a free throw but got to the hoop quite a bit and dished 3 assists in just 13 minutes. But, 2 turnovers in 13 minutes is still too high as well.

Duany Duany: A-
Was the early factor in the game as Doc hit deep beyond the arc on his way to a perfect 6 for 6 game and 17 points. A little sloppy with the ball at times, but when he shoots like this, he is a tough player to defend.

Faust, Swartz, Smith: INC
