Here are the game grades:
Mark Vershaw: B
Vershaw put his second straight strong game into the books with an 18 point, 8 rebound performance. His shot wasn't dropping but he his a key "3" in the second half and got to the line extensively (12 attempt, making 11). He also added 2 assists WITHOUT A TURNOVER! .
Andy Kowske: D
Kowske continued his mediocre play with 4 fouls in only 16 minutes. He was also having a tough time with Reggie Evans to open the game before Charlie Wills provided some relief.
Charlie Wills: B
His numbers were nothing special, but his defensive effort on Evans was a big lift for the Badgers. He banged with Evans to the point of pushing Evans into some cheap shot elbows. Most importantly, he kept Evans off the offensive glass.
Roy Boone: A-
Once again Boone was effective at getting to the free throw line. Also of note is that Boone only had one turnover. Always a problem for Roy, he has really cut back as of late which has made him a more complete ballplayer. Boone finished with 18 points and he did a servicable job on Oliver and Recker defensively.
Kirk Penney: B
Penney seems to have settled nicely into his role of fewer (but more efficient) minutes, scoring 10 points on 3 of 6 shooting in only 22 minutes. Like Boone, Penney has also controlled his at times carelessness with the ball, finishing without a turnover once again.
Mike Kelley: C
Kelley completely took Recker out of the game in the first half, which was his major influence on the game. Offensively he was not a factor and his 3 turnovers were uncharacteristically high.
Freddie Owens: INC
Maurice Linton: B-
Much like the MSU game, Linton didn't see much floor time, but was pretty productive when he was in there, notching 7 points and 5 boards in only 16 minutes.
Travon Davis: A
By far Davis' best game as a Badger. He locked down Dean Oliver defensively and played 22 turnover free minutes at the point (with 45 assists) when Kelley sat with moderate foul trouble. He was also pesky on defense with 3 steals and displayed much better judgement with his drives.
Dave Mader: C
Mader played briefly but didn't affect the game one way or the other.
