My thoughts on the Canadian Olympic team

(and the notable exception of one Doug Gilmour)

OK, now you get to listen to me ramble...let me know what you think about this, OK?

You see that flag up in the top left corner. You know what country that represents. So by now, we've all figured out that Doug isn't going to be in Nagano representing his country in the '98 Olympics, and we all can guess how I feel about that, right? Why is it that Dougie wasn't even asked to play for Team Canada? I might be misguided, they might have asked him, but I'm pretty sure no one did. Is Dougie not good anough to play for Canada? That can't be! He's an excellent player, as shown by his points, and more obviously, what he has done for the offense of the New Jersey Devils this season as well as the end of last season, and in the playoffs last year. He's got a +10, 46 points, but more than that, he's lifted what used to be primarily a defensive team into a considerable offensive force to be reckened with, home ice or away, and it seems a real shame that he won't be in Nagano in his home country's colors.

Yes, I'll more than likely still root for Team Canada, despite the obvious lack of the one player that truly deserves to be there, because in spirit, he'll be there along with the players whom he has affected with his extraordinary playing skill and talent over his 15 seasons in the NHL

Well, well. I find it very amusing, and rather upsetting at the same time that Canada lost in the semi-final round to the Czech Republec, albeit in a shootout. My point is that were Doug Gilmour there, though I cannot nor never have been able to see the future, the results would quite possibly have been a whole lot better. I also would have liked to see Brodeur in goal, but Roy is a bigger attention getter, or so it seems, and I guess the NHL needed to draw attention back to the NHL from wherever it has been.

Apparently curling has been growing in popularity.
