Douggie, the Actor

Didn't know hockey players could act, did you?

Kung Fu: The Legend Continues-

Douggie appeared in the episode entitled "Shaolin Shot". Kung Fu: TLC used to film in Toronto, before being taken off the air, and of course, it was filmed when Doug played for the Leafs. The character he appeared as was not really a stretch, since he played Doug Gilmour.

Anyway, if you follow, or followed the show, you know he was brought in by the Ancient to help Peter Caine sharpen up his hockey skills in order to infiltrate the Carlsburg Sonics hockey team, where players had been getting mysteriously injured. Douggie was in it for about 3 minutes, but I really have to check to find out the exact time. A lot of hockey stuff, and some good lines surrounding Douggie's entrance:

Peter (to the Ancient): Well, he'd better play better than I do(referring to the person The Ancient brought to help Peter)
-Douggie skates out
Peter: Okay (stunned),he plays better than I do

It'd probably be better if you just watched it, but Douggie had some lines too, overall, a very impressive performance. He's also mentioned a couple times, and the Maple Leafs are too.

Coach (of the Sonics):Well, I could cut together a tape that makes my grandmother look like Gretzky
Kermit (acting as Peter Caine's manager): I think my boy's got more Doug Gilmour in him.

And the other instance:

Coach (to Peter):That last goal was Doug Gilmour material.

Kung Fu-TLC shows reruns weekdays at 3:00 EST on TNT, so grab some popcorn and hang around a couple weeks and maybe they'll reshow the episode!

Bogus-

Doug also had a cameo in the movie Bogus. His appearance really had no real relevance to the storyline of the movie, but it was a nice addition. It's worth renting if you have nothing else to do, even if you just want to see Doug.

WARNING: He's not in it until the movie is nearly over. Really, I watched the whole thing, from start to finish. Initially, I thought a guy's chin early in the movie was Douggie.

But here's where he really shows up: They have a party for Bob's kid (sorry, I forgot his name) and Dougie's standing over by the grill with a plate of food. Bob walks up to him and says something, I think it was, "Nice seeing you again, Doug" and Doug says, "Nice seeing you, too, Bob." Another bit of cleverly portrayed acting for Dougie's acting portfolio.

NOTE: Doug's name is spelled wrong in the credits, silly people, they spelled it Gilmore. Well, it annoyed me. Note also his role is "Surprise Guest", how cute.

Click the link to Reel.com at the bottom, and you can check out Bogus on their site, and even buy it online if you want.

Commercials-

I've been told that Douggie has been in a number of commercials, namely one for Head and Shoulders (shampoo) and one for Milk, where he wears cow print pants and his Leafs jersey. Unfortunately, it seems that these were only aired in Ontario, and since I don't live in Ontario, for that matter, I don't even live in Canada, I haven't seen them. :(
