Calculation of Points
Teams received points for each analyzed match at the base of the following equation:
Pt = R * Cf
where:
R - number of points the received for match according to the following table:
| Goals
difference Home Team - AwayTeam |
Points for Home Team | Points for Away Team |
| -1 | 7.5 | 24.5 |
| -2 | 5 | 27 |
| -3 | 3 | 29 |
| -4 | 1.4 | 30.6 |
| <= 5 | 0 | 32 |
| 0 | 16 | 16 |
| 1 | 23.2 | 8.8 |
| 2 | 25.7 | 6.3 |
| 3 | 27.7 | 4.3 |
| 4 | 29.3 | 2.7 |
| >=5 | 30.7 | 1.3 |
Cf means competition coefficient and varies for each domestic competitions and for each level of European cup competitions.
Points of teams one computes
according to following rule:
X = 5 * Avg_1/4 + 2 * Avg_1/2 + 2 * Avg_1/1
where:
Avg_1/4 - means average of points from 1/4 of matches
team plays in the season
Avg_1/2 - means average of points from 1/2 of matches
team plays in the season
Avg_1/1 - means average of points from all of matches
team plays in the season
Before one computes overall score, matches are sorted by
number of points
so either Avg_1/4 or Avg_1/2 are based on 1/4 or 1/2 of best
matches.
Example: If Team XXX plays in 18 team league it
plays 34 matches in domestic competiion
One assumes that team plays also 12 matches in European
Cups.
So if one computes points for Team XXX Avg_1/4 is based
on (34 + 12) / 4 => 12 matches
and Avg_1/2 is computed as average from (34 + 12) / 2 =
23 matches
