1996 Hong Kong Tour

My first tour since I started my work career began with my first visit to Hong Kong in Dec 1996. I was there with a NUS classmate of mine, Roger. Since both of us are guys, we did not do much shopping during our trip. We tried to cover as much of Hong Kong as possible during our 4D3N stay. There was the bird-flu scare during the period.

It was a fun trip. Can you believe it that I actually spend all my cash within 2 days in Hong Kong? I had to withdraw cash at one of the ATMs on the 2nd night. I spend around S$100 at Wong Tai Xin Temple. We went to the famous temple and get ourselves a devine. I had my fortune read at the temple as well. It as a total package which includes palm, "ba zhi" (ie. birthdate) and feature reading based on face. It costs me dear as well :P

We visit the famous "miao" street and ladies street night market for food and sight seeing. I remembered we had a great seafood dinner at the night market. A must place to visit! Another good hunting place for bazzaar is the Stanley market. There are lots of t-shirts for sale! It is only open during the afternoon if my memory did not fail me.

Not too far away from Stanley market is the Causeway Bay. We went there right after visiting Stanley market. It was great looking at the beaches. Make sure you go and touch the "Money" buddha for good luck!

During the night, make sure you take a ride on the famous tram up the beautiful Victoria Peak. It was very cold when we visited it that night. Snap as much photos as you can while you are there! You will never regret visiting Victoria Peak to have a look at the beautiful night scenary up there!

We spent a day visiting Lantau Island. We had always seen the Hong Kong people visiting it in HK serials. Visit Tai-O, the fishing village and tried getting yourself a bite on the BBQ squids. Visit the famous buddha statue on the island as well. It is so big!

Below are some photos from my trip. Some of them maybe familiar to you if you have visited Hong Kong before....hopefully these can revive some of the sweet memories .....
