Reggie Warford

Assistant COACH

Wayne Morgan’s longtime friend Reggie Warford moves into a full-time position this season, his second year on the 49er staff.

Warford has a wealth of basketball experience, having coached at Iowa State, Pittsburgh, and Robert Morris. While at Iowa State, Warford was interim Head Coach for a period of time.

Warford was a member of the 1975 Kentucky team that was NCAA runners-up, and on the Wildcat team that won the NIT title in 1976. As a player, he was known as a leader, and served as team captain in 1976. He won the team’s Freshman Leadership award in 1973, and won the Senior Leadership award  and the “110% Award” in 1976.

Warford has been honored for his community service in the Pittsburgh area, receiving the Willie Stargell Public Service Award in 1984, and was similarly honored by the Independent Insurance Agency, the Champions Association, and the Jewish Community Center of Pittsburgh.

Before coming to Long Beach State, Warford worked with youth in the Pittsburgh area, and operated his own security company. He is a bi-coastal man, as his family is still in Pittsburgh: wife Marisa, and sons Grant, 7, and Tyler, 5.
