GAME DAY PREVIEWS
GAME 6:

#1 DALLAS STARS vs #2 COLORADO AVALANCHE

Colorado leads 3-2
Game time: Tuesday June 1st, 1999 7:30pm at Colorado

The Colorado Avalanche look to finish off the top-seeded Dallas Stars tonight and reach the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in four years. The Avalanche got another huge goal from rookie Chris Drury in a wild 7-5 victory over the Stars in Game Five on Sunday to move within one win of the Finals and a meeting with the Buffalo Sabres. What made Sunday's win even more impressive was the players Colorado was missing. Rookie left wing Milan Hejduk missed his first game after suffering a season-ending broken collarbone early in Game Four and right wing Theo Fleury sat out with the flu. Drury, one of the three finalists for the Calder Trophy as the league's top rookie, tied teammate Claude Lemieux for the rookie playoff record with his fourth game-winnin goal. Lemieux had four in 1986, helping the Montreal Canadiens win the Stanley Cup. Now the Avalanche need to take care of business at home, where they are just 3-5, compared to 8-1 on the road. Held without a point in Games Three and Four, Colorado center Peter Forberg collected one goal and two assists on Sunday. He leads all playoff scorers with 23 points. Centers Joe Nieuwendyk and Mike Modano lead the Stars with 16 points apiece. Nieuwendyk has three goals and four assists in this series while Modano has one and four. If necessary, Game Seven would be Friday at Dallas.
