GAME DAY PREVIEWS
GAME 2:

#1 DALLAS STARS vs #2 COLORADO AVALANCHE

Colorado leads 1-0
Game time: Monday May 24th, 1999 7:30pm at Dallas

The Colorado Avalanche can set an NHL record with their eighth straight road victory in the postseason tonight when they meet the Dallas Stars in Game Two of the Western Conference finals. Colorado, which is only 2-4 at home, tied the playoff record for consecutive road wins with a 2-1 victory in Game One. The record is shared by the 1980 and 1982 New York Islanders and 1995 New Jersey Devils. All three of those clubs went on to win the Stanley Cup. Since losing the first two games of their conference semifinal series against Detroit, the Avalanche have reeled off five straight wins, allowing just eight goals. Patrick Roy continues to prove that he is one of the top playoff performers of all time, if not the best. Roy is 9-4 in these playoffs, giving him an NHL record 108 playoff victories. As if their loaded offense needed any help, the Avalanche have received a lift from the return of left wing Valeri Kamensky, who missed the final 15 games of the regular season and the first six playoff contests with a broken right forearm. Kamensky has one goal and three assists in his last two games Also red hot is center Peter Forsberg, who has recorded five straight two-point games with five goals and five assists. He leads all playoff scorers with 19 points. Dallas, which had won its first five home playoff games before Saturday, has played nine one-goal games in 11 postseason contests. The Stars continue to struggle on the power play. They were 0-for-2 in Game One and are just 5-for-54 in the postseason. The series shifts to Denver for Game Three on Wednesday.
