WESTERN QUARTER-FINALS

GAME DAY PREVIEWS
GAME 6:

#1 ST. LOUIS BLUES vs #8 SAN JOSE SHARKS

San Jose leads 3-2
Game time: Sunday April 23rd, 2000 3pm at San Jose

The San Jose Sharks try once again to close out the top-seeded St. Louis Blues when these teams clash Sunday afternoon in Game 6 of the Western Conference quarterfinals. San Jose blew its first chance to end the series Friday as St. Louis posted a 5-3 triumph in Game 5 to move within three games to two. Al MacInnis had a goal and an assist and Chris Pronger's power-play tally broke a third-period tie for the Blues. St. Louis is looking to rebound from a three games to one deficit for the second straight season as it topped Phoenix last year. It also is hoping to avoid being the first Presidents Trophy winner to be bounced in the first round since Chicago fell to the Minnesota North Stars in 1991. The Sharks knows what it is like to upset a top seed as they eliminated Detroit in seven games in 1994. They return to the San Jose Arena where they won twice in this series to gain a 3-1 lead. Mike Ricci has played a major role for the Sharks over the last two contests, collecting two goals and an assist. Owen Nolan leads the team with six points with Vincent Damphousse and Gary Suter each adding five. The Blues have scored a power-play goal in each of the five games and are 6-of-25 in the series. The Sharks were 2-of-7 with the man advantage on Friday and are 5-of-28 in this series. If a seventh game is necessary, it will take place on Tuesday in St. Louis.
