GAME DAY PREVIEWS
GAME 4:

#2 DALLAS STARS vs #4 COLORADO AVALANCHE

Colorado leads 2-1
Game time: Sunday May 21st, 2000 3pm at Colorado

Now the co-leader for most shutouts in playoff history, Patrick Roy attempts to break the record Sunday afternoon when the Colorado Avalanche host the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. Roy needed just 21 saves to notch his 15th playoff shutout as the Avalanche blanked the Stars, 2-0, on Friday to take a two games to one lead. Already the all-time leader with 120 playoff victories, Roy tied Clint Benedict's shutout mark with his second of the series and third this postseason. Adam Deadmarsh and Shjon Podein each scored and Martin Skoula assisted on both for Colorado, which outshot Dallas 40-21 and 20-4 in the second period. Deadmarsh is riding a five-game points streak with a goal and six assists Colorado, which is 7-0 at home in the postseason, has scored a power-play goal in each of the last four games and 11 of 13 in the playoffs. It leads the playoffs with 15 power-play tallies. Dallas had several concerns as superstars Mike Modano, Brett Hull and Joe Nieuwendyk were held to three shots and none over the first 45 1/2 minutes. The Stars were 0-for-3 on the power play and are 1-for-12 in the series. Ray Bourque returned for Colorado after missing four games with a knee injury. Fellow defenseman Adam Foote could make his return today as he missed Game Three with an injury after he was hit with an inadvertent stick by the Stars' Jere Lehtinen. The Stars must stay away from the penalty box if they want to even the series as the Avalanche went on 10 power plays Friday. They had nine in two previous contests combined. Dallas has never been shut out three times in one series, but was blanked four times in the 1998 playoffs. Game 5 is Tuesday in Dallas.
