#4 WASHINGTON CAPITALS vs #6 BUFFALO SABERS

Monday May 25 7:30pm
Fresh off a shutout in the opening game of the series, the Buffalo Sabres will try to extend their playoff road winning streak to five games when they battle the Washington Capitals in Game Two of the Eastern Conference finals tonight. Dominik Hasek made 19 saves for his first playoff shutout in four years and Michael Grosek and Miroslav Satan scored goals 84 seconds apart in the second period as Buffalo blanked Washington, 2-0, in the series opener on Saturday. The shutout in the postseason was the third of Hasek's career and his first since turning aside 70 shots in an epic 1-0, four-overtime win over New Jersey on April 27th, 1994. Buffalo has not lost on the road in the postseason since falling to Philadelphia in Game Two of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals on April 24th. Since that loss, the Sabres' penalty-killing unit has killed off 21 of 22 chances with the man advantage on the road. Donald Audette has two goals and three assists during a four-game road points streak. Washington, which looked lifeless in the opening game, has only fallen behind 0-2 in a series twice in its playoff history. The Capitals were swept by Boston in the conference finals in 1990 and lost in five games to the New York Rangers in the second round of the 1994 playoffs. The Capitals have managed just one power-play goal in their last 11 chances over the last three games. The series shifts the Buffalo's Marine Midland Arena for Games Three and Four on Thursday and Saturday, respectively. 1
