Ending his two-week absence from RAW, Shawn Michaels opened the show with a few announcements. Knowing that Iron Mike Tyson was in the Arena, HBK promised that he had a special 'offer' for the enforcer that he couldn't possibly refuse. The Federation Champion then went on to address Stone Cold Steve Austin, letting his WrestleMania XIV opponent know that he was going to hear the sounds of "Sweet Chin Music" during the evening. Never one to back down from a challenge, the Rattlesnake entered the ring almost immediately to dare the champ to live up to his threat. Suddenly, the lights dimmed and Kane appeared! Scheduled to face Austin in the WAR ZONE, Paul Bearer led Kane onto the ramp to let Austin know his end was near. The lights came back on and the Three-One-Six was left alone in the ring.
Starting off the WAR ZONE, Vince McMahon took to the ring to interview the Baddest Man on the Planet. Before anything was said between the two, D- Generation X was in the ring. Michaels informed Tyson that he wasn't going to disrespect him like Stone Cold, but he was going to 'call him out.' Agreeing to have their respective entourages clear the squared circle, the two were ready to brawl right there! They stood alone in the ring, face-to-face, taking turns shoving each other. Daring Michaels to throw the first punch, it was obvious Iron Mike was not backing down. Grabbing Tyson by the collar, the champion was ready to hit him, when suddenly he tore of Iron Mike's 'WWF ATTITUDE' T-shirt to reveal a D-Generation X one underneath! The two embraced, Triple H and Chyna joined the celebration as the four degenerates shared hugs, high-fives, and plenty of 'crotch chops'! In what is undoubtedly the most shocking story to ever come out of the wrestling world, IRON MIKE TYSON HAS BECOME THE NEWEST MEMBER OF D-GENERATION X!!! The impact this has on the main event at WrestleMania is immeasurable! How can Tyson serve as an objective enforcer when he is clearly pro-Shawn Michaels? The Road to WrestleMania handed Austin a HUGE detour in Cleveland!
Faced with an even steeper uphill climb to the title, Stone Cold had to remain focused on his match with Kane if he wanted to even make it to Boston! As Austin stepped out from the curtains, Michaels attacked him from behind with "Sweet Chin Music", sending the Rattlesnake to the ground. Forgetting about his match with the younger brother of the Undertaker, Austin got up and chased after DX. Prepared to face anyone, Kane battered a ringside fan and then destroyed the timekeeper with a Tombstone Piledriver. Flashing his devious smile, Paul Bearer challenged any superstar to come out and take on Kane, because he had one more Tombstone left. The lights dimmed, a purple haze fell over the ring and the familiar sound of bells tolling was heard throughout the arena. Could it be the Undertaker? For what seemed like an eternity, the arena remained dark as the bells continued to toll. Bearer assured Kane that someone was playing a joke, this was not the Phenom. Up on the stage, a casket appeared, with the body of the Undertaker lying motionless on top. Absorbing a strike of lighting, the Man from the Darkside rose up and returned to the World Wrestling Federation! The Undertaker explained that he has been on the other side explaining to his parents why he is forced to do the unimaginable---fight his brother Kane! Promising that he will be the only one left standing after this historic battle, the Undertaker challenged his younger sibling to a fight at WrestleMania XIV!
Sporting neck braces, the New Age Outlaws claimed they were forced to cancel their match against the D.O.A. thanks to injuries suffered at the hands of Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie. Presenting their argument through the "Outlaw-Cam" the Tag Team Champions stated they had full intentions of charging the hardcore duo with attempted murder. Not buying any of their story, Commissioner Slaughter came ringside to let Road Dog and Badd Ass Billy know that they would defend the titles as planned! Moments after beginning the match, Cactus and Chainsaw appeared, sending the Outlaws running for the exits and a defeat by count-out.
With help from Luna, Marvelous Marc Mero defeated Tom Brandi. Following the match, The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust and Luna attacked Mero until Sable came out. The vivacious vixen went after everyone!!! Tossing Mero to the ground the lovely Sable ran her egotistical man right out of the ring! Looking for some revenge against Jim Cornette for tricking him last week, Taka Michinoku teamed up with the Headbangers to take on the Rock N' Roll Express and Barry Windham. The NWA was dealt another defeat thanks to James E.'s errant tennis racket, but their biggest loss of the night was still to come.
Accompanied by a new promoter, Tennessee Lee, Jeff Jarrett re-introduced Double J to the World Wrestling Federation. Wearing the trademark flashing cowboy hat and glasses, Double J announced he has left the NWA and relinquished his NWA North American Title. Riding the emotional high of his rebirth, Double J defeated Flash Funk with the figure-four leglock.
Looking to continue his unbeaten streak, Steve Blackman took on Kama of the Nation of Domination. Sensing Kama was close to defeat after Blackman locked him in the "Guillotine", Faarooq and The Rock entered the ring before Kama would submit. Credited with the victory via disqualification, Blackman received a thrashing at the hands of the three Nation members until Ken Shamrock came in for the save.
Distracted by Chyna's ringside presence, Owen Hart lost to Mark Henry by disqualification. Owen had the World's Strongest Man tied up in the Sharpshooter, nearly ready to submit, when he released the hold to confront DX's bodyguard who tried to enter the ring. The distraction led the "Black Hart" right into a Henry "Bear Hug." Realizing that the referee was about to end the match and award the Nation member the victory and the European Title, Chyna jumped in the ring to nail Henry with a low blow. DX wants the European Title to be around Owen's waist when he squares off against Triple H at WrestleMania XIV!
