February 2, 1998

The night got started off with a bitter confrontation in the ring. D- Generation X made their way to the squared circle dressed like "Uncle Sam", and just as good politicians would, HBK and HHH got the entire sold-out arena backing their cause. Just what was DX's cause? A WrestleMania XIV main event of Mike Tyson v. Steve Austin! Shawn and Hunter were leading the crowd in cheers of "Let them fight," as Stone Cold made his way to the ring. The Texas Rattlesnake let the World Wrestling Federation Champion know that he would be more than happy to fight "The Baddest Man on the Planet," but wanted Shawn to keep in mind that they had a date too.

The opening match was a "No-Holds-Barred" contest between Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie. These two friends like beating the heck out of each other more than they do 'hanging' out. Using garbage cans, steel chairs, ladders and anything else they could get their hands on, Cactus and Chainsaw beat each other all over Market Square Arena. They battled up to the ramp where the commercial trash bin that Cactus Jack brought to carry his weapons was sitting. He tossed Chainsaw inside before climbing up the TitanTron, where he would jump off of, slamming his friendly rival with a vicious elbow. Before these two hardcore legends could get out, the New Age Outlaws shut the lids and locked them shut. Bad Ass Billy Gunn and the Road Dog then pushed the trash bin off the stage and sent them crashing to the concrete floor. Paramedics were called to the scene as neither man was able to move.

Owen Hart defended his European Title against Bad Ass Billy Gunn. Owen beat the Bad Ass from pillar to post before putting him in the Sharpshooter. Before Mr. Ass submitted, his tag team partner Mr. Dog came in for the save, costing Billy a disqualification. After the bell rang, D-Generation X came to the ring to assisst their partners at IN YOUR HOUSE: NO WAY OUT. The four superstars pulverized Owen before dragging him up ramp--where moments ago the Outlaws dumped the trash bin with Cactus and Charlie locked inside. HBK and HHH convinced the tag team champions to throw the Black Hart over this time. Federation officials were able to get to the group of degenerates before they dropped Hart over the edge.

Marc Mero took on Mosh of the Headbangers. Not wanting to have to worry about being outnumbered while ringside, the Marvelous One brought a friend with him---Marilyn Manson. It was actually The Artist Formerly Known as Goldust dressed up like the Headbangers' idol, but it was enough to anger the former tag champions. The official had his back turned when Mero hit Mosh with a low- blow, and then covered him for the pin. These four superstars will meet in a tag team match at No Way Out.

The newest NWA recruit Barry Windham issued a challenge to Justin Bradshaw--find a partner and get in the ring with him and NWA North American Champion Jeff Jarrett. Bradshaw desperatley wants a piece of Windham, who betrayed their relationship by turning against him a few weeks ago. Bradshaw chose Flash Funk as his partner, however a few moments after starting the match the Rock n' Roll Express injured Flash on the outside of the ring, forcing him back to the locker room. Justin "Hawk" Bradshaw was forced to continue alone, and he got the victory! After tossing his former partner to the canvas, he delivered a devastating lariat clothesline to Jarrett and quickly covered him for the pin. After the match the entire NWA teamed up to show their apprecitaion to Bradshaw. Jarrett locked him in the figure four, Ricky and Robert held his arms and Windham pounded his already weakened knee with a handful of splashes.

Faarooq and Chainz are two of the combatants in the War of Attrition on February 5 in Houston, TX, but they got their battle started off last night. The leader of the Nation was counted out after leaving the ring to confront Kama who accidently tripped him up. The two traded fists, but the rest of the Nation was able to stop the melee before it escalated out of hand.

Wink Collins was on hand to announce that the remaining tickets to WrestleMania sold out in 90 seconds! Before he could finish his statement, the lights dimmed and Kane appeared! The seven foot monster attacked the helpless Wink, but before he could do any permananent damage Vader came to the rescue! The Mighty Mastodon had a fire extinguisher with him and used it to send Paul Bearer and the Undertaker's younger brother back to the locker room.

The match between Stone Cold Steve Austin and the Road Dog never really got underway. Moments after the opening bell sounded, Bad Ass became involved forcing a disqualification. Just as they had done with Owen Hart moments earlier, DX came ringside to team with the Outlaws on dismantling Austin. The four superstars tied him in the ropes and took turns kicking him. It seemed serious injury was imminent, when Cactus Jack and Chainsaw Charlie came to the rescue! Just having escaped from the hospital, Cactus came to the ring with the IV still in his arm! Chainsaw was dressed in only a hospital gown as the three teammates at No Way Out ran DX and the Outlaws back to the locker room. Credit: www.wwf.com
