Eric may have played for more clubs than most, but he only really loved one - Manchester United. From the day he arrived, the Old Trafford faithful absolutely worshipped him. Even during his long absence from the side, French flags were waved in his honour every time United took to the field. "In the last four and a half years I have enjoyed my best football and have a wonderful time,"he insists. "I have had a marvellous relationship with the manger, coach, staff, and players and not least the supports." With 63 goals in just 143 league games, it is no wonder they adored him!!!!


The Winner
When Alex Freguson risked 1.2 million pound on a Frenchman with a troublesome reputation back in November 1992, Manchester United had not won the title for 26 years. Five years on, United, guided by the inspirational Cantona, had won the title four times, the FA Cup twice and the Charity Shield three times. Cantona himself had been voted Player Of The Year in 1994 and Footballer Of The Year in 1996.
It was a Midas touch he had first developed in France. At Montpellier, he helped the club to the French Cup in 1990, while at Marseille he was part of the 1991 title-winning side. And of course, the following year he won his first title in England with Leeds.
