With the great success of the Shelby designed RT/10, Dodge released it's second snake to the pit, the Dodge Viper GTS. The Viper GTS is true Viper, despite the cushy add-ons like power windows, air conditioning, cd player and electronic door latch. There is no doubt that Chrysler kept the car basic and tough, built to be driven. Unlike the Viper RT/10, the GTS is fully weatherproof and made to drive in wet weather. Lighter and faster than it's predecessor the GTS is a rumbling, raw machine that jumps above 100 mph even in 3rd or 4th gears. Chrysler made countless improvements from the RT/10, including softer shock absorbers that give a far smoother ride, decreased drag from 0.50 to 0.35, a new cam and higher compression that allow for a top speed of 185 mph, 15 mph more than the RT/10.

Other changes and details of the GTS include a NACA duct on the hood that rams air at high speed. Also, intriguingly, the shoulder harness passes over your inside shoulder. The particularly wide center console holds the glove box to make room for the passenger side air-bag. Despite the low roof shallow doors the GTS is anything but cramped inside allowing for the long legged to sit quite comfortably. But all in all the GTS is a Viper; basic, raw power that offers a ride you won't forget, and at cost that is steal for an exotic.
