Inside The Ark, the Maximals new home, the Maximals are hard at work trying to re-configure the base to fit their needs. In another system, a Maximal ship is seen moving through space. The transformer controlling the ship, Depthcharge is in pursuit of Protoform X, now known as Rampage in the Beast Wars. The computer warns him about a time worm hole that has opened up (the same hole that the Predacons and Maximals went through at the start of the Beast Wars). Having little control of his ship, Depthcharge is sucked through, going back in time to where the Predacons, Maximals and Protoform X is.

Outside The Ark, Rampage and Inferno are planning an attack on the Maximal base. Inferno gives Rampage the plan, but Rampage is bored,not wanting to take orders from no one. After Inferno leaves to attack, Rampage prepares to follow, but suddenly stops.. looking up at the sky.He notes it being "Someone I remember", then he leaves. Inferno is easily handled by the base defence.Depthcharge's ship, still plumeting towards earth, plunges into the sea.

Cheetor, noticing the ship, trys to get into contact with Optimus but Rampage, unnoticed to him shoots him from behind with his missile. Beneath the water, the ship's scanner activates - searching for a lifeform. Of the many lifeforms that pass by, the computer chooses a Manta Ray. The ship opens and Depthcharge comes out... the computer advises him that Protoform X has been detected. While searching for X, Depthcharge spots Cheetor, drifting to the bottom and carries him to the surface.

Depthcharge resumes his search for Rampage. His scanners him, but Depthcharge cannot. Rampage, positioned below Depthcharge pops up and attacks him. After a brief struggle, Depthcharge gains the upperhand and flies, with Rampage attached to the surface, landing on a beach. Optimal Optimus arrives and spots Cheetor. He is informed of what happened and flies off to the beach in search of Depthcharge.

As Depthcharge reclaims the upperhand in the battle, Quickstrike, sent to look for Rampage surprises Depthcharge. Optimus takes care of Quickstrike. When Depthcharge regains himself, Rampage is nowhere to be found. The Maximals head back to base. Now fully repaired, Depthcharge tells Optimus that he's not taking orders from him. After a brief war or words, Depthcharge leaves the base, again, in search of Rampage. Underneath the sea, two of Rampage's missile collide with Depthcharge's ship, shattering it to pieces, insuring that Depthcharge cannot leave the planet.
