"Takara is working on a new 3D action game called Beast Wars Matels 64 for N64, scheduled to release in Japan in October. This game is based on the popular CG cartoon of the same name, the gameplay is somewhat similar to Sega's Virtual ON.

There are 8 basic characters to choose from, additional characters can be access by clearing the game under different conditions. Each character can use its own weapon to battle, as well as transforming into 3 different forms after becoming Matels, the 3 forms are robot, beast and transportation vehicle. Robots has dozens of special attacks, while beast has the strongest attack power, and transportation vehicle has the highest speed and able to perform long range attacks. There are 4 different play modes, they are Matels Mode (1P fighting), VS Battle, Team Battle and Extra Mode, in which you can load up and play the characters you created from the GameBoy version of Beast Wars using the 64Gb Pak."
