*Shawn's main charity is the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.
*Graduated from Douglas High School in 1991. During his high school career, he pitched four no-hitters. As a senior, Shawn had a record of 8-2 with a 0.80 ERA. He also struck out a school record 141 batters in only 62 innings pitched.
*Accumulated a 4.0 GPA at Douglas HS, and was offered a full scholarship to Stanford.
*Nevada State Player of the Year in 1991.
*Selected by the Seattle Mariners in the 1st round (11th player chosen overall) in the June 1991 draft.
*Acquired by the Giants from Seattle with infielder Wilson Delgado in exchange for RHP Salomon Torres, May 20, 1995.
