MATCH REPORT |
|
|
|
Just another chapter in a very up and down season so far, Chelsea yet again in superb form in Europe.
The game to be fair was played at such a slow pace, Chelsea were always going to prevail as the tatics suited are passing game.
What come as a great shock to everybody was Vialli opting to play Sutton and Flo upfront with Zola just behind.
Chelsea dominated the first half with Flo going close with a few mazey runs.
But both goals came from two players you would not bet on scoring .
Didier Deschamps goal was a cracker, intercepting a bad pass from Daei and thundering in a shot viciously swerving into the back of the net, he certainly looked like he enjoyed that goal.
On 44 minutes from a superb through ball by Dennis Wise finding Albert Ferrer in the box, he quickly brought the ball under control and smashed the ball into the back of the net, to finish off any threat from the German side.
In the second half we chose to sit back on our lead but never looked like conceding a goal, and apart from Berlin hitting the woodwork, Ed was not troubled all night.
My man of the match goes to Albert Ferrer who I thought had a brilliant game and never put a foot wrong all night.
On the negative side, Why was the crowd so quiet last night?
Sutton's sending off!
So thats it , new history in the making, Chelsea into the 2nd Phase of the Champions League, with us and Manure flying the flag for England in Europe.
Cant wait for the draw on Friday in Geneva to see who we face in the next Group stage.
Viva Vialli |
