MATCH REPORT |
|
|
Another brilliant night in Europe, why oh why cant we play like this in the Premiership
Infront of a less than a sell out crowd, with Feyenoord banning their own fans from travelling , witnessed a brilliant display of everything great about European football.
To be fair to Feyenoord they were totaly outclassed in every department, and chose to play with a 5 man defence with just the one upfront hoping for quick counter attacks which never materialised.
I have never known Chelsea to have have so many corners in a match and to pepper the oppositions goal with so many shots on target.
Quite simply how the scoreline stayed at three I will nevewr know, Chances falling to Flo, Zola and Poyet in the first half all wasted.
The breakthrough we had all waited for, finally came on the stroke of half time from a brilliant header by Babayaro and what a delight to see his subsequent goal celebration, you know "the backflip"
The second half saw Chelsea applying even more pressure and such was Chelsea's dominance that Desailly and Leboeuf took it in turns to attack in waves.
If this was what "Total Football " is suppose to be like, give me it every week.
Thre was so much movement out there you forget who was suppose to be the defenders or the forwards., all players interchanging with each other so much a Feyenoord were puled here there and everywhere.
You had to feel sorry for the Dutch team, as I dont think they knew what had hit them.
It was by no means a shock when Flo scored after another Babayaro header had hit the bar and finishing off the rebound with ease.
The game was one way traffic and with the Brilliant Dennis Wise responding to our chants of :
"Oh Dennis Wise Scored a F--king great goal In the San Siro With ten minutes to go"
made a memorable night for every Chelsea fan to remember for a long time to come.
The rout was completed by Flo again following a great through ball to beat the keeper at the second attempt and to finish off a great team performance.
The only sour note was the late goal by Feyenoord sub Cruz who latched onto a poor back pass from Desailly, very uncommon as this guy is Pure Class.
Thankyou Chelsea for a football feast
Are You Watching Manchester
Onto Rome to face mighty Lazio in two weeks time.
Forza Chelsea
