The First of Many Sunrises 2 The First of Many Sunrises
By Athena

Down the hall, Storm was brushing her hair out, waiting for her husband to finish his shower. As Glenn crept up behind her in his towel, she smiled wickedly at him in the mirror. "Pray tell sir, why are you in such sparse attire? Are you perchance trying to seduce me?"

"Well, I wouldn't say trying, I'm hoping that I am seducing you. If I removed my towel, would that help?"

Storm chucked and reached for the towel, "Let me help you. I think I am more than willing to be seduced by you." As they hungrily explored each other's bodies, their need for each other grew, until they could stand it no more. As Glenn picked her up, she wrapped her legs around him. He groaned and entered her, slowly walking towards the bed. The motion of him carrying her to the bed was driving her wild, and she moved her hips to the rhythm. As he laid her on the bed, she cupped her hands around his buttocks. Their passion grew to a fever pitch until both of them cried out.

Soon after, Storm lay on his chest, her fingers making lazy circles down the broad expanse. Suddenly she picked her head up, "What time did you say you had to be at that PR thing?"

"Uh, I think it's 2-4 PM, but I can't really think straight with you doing what you're doing. Why?"

She just smiled surreptitiously and answered, "I wanted to do a little shopping with Rachel, and I wanted to make sure to go when you'd be otherwise occupied." Glenn pressed for a more exact answer, but no matter what method of persuasion he used, she just would not give in...

Rachel smiled wickedly to herself, becoming more aroused every time she heard Mark groan. Suddenly, he licked her and it startled her. "You'd better be careful or I might hurt a part of you I happen to love very much." She purred. He said nothing, just gave her this penetrating look that told her to behave and let him return the favor. He started kissing and nibbling on her neck and collarbone (a particularly tender spot), and she arched her back to bring him closer. Trailing down to her breasts, he took each nipple into his mouth, sucking and licking them until she was breathing so raggedly she couldn't even moan in pleasure. He then trailed down her stomach, gently kissing each of her thighs until she could stand it no more. She begged for him to finish it, but instead, he would find some new unexplored part of her and start all over again. He would bring her right to the edge, but never let her have her release.

Finally, he could stand it no more, and he entered her, pulling her up so she was sitting on his lap. They moved together slowly at first, matching thrust for thrust until the waves washed over them again and again. She began to tremble and tear up at the intensity of her release, but Mark mistook it, "Did I hurt you?"

She whispered, "No, of course not. I have just never felt anything like that before. It was more than a physical release, it was definitely emotional. I guess I finally unpacked some of those 'steamer trunks' I told you about." He smiled and pulled her closer, just feeling her heart beat against his chest.

He knew she was right; he'd felt it too. Never before had there been such a bond with someone else. He always held something back, afraid of what someone might say or feel. He knew he was unique in his appearance and presence, and he knew how it intimidated his lovers. He lay down on the bed and rolled Rachel over so she was "spooned" up against him. She ran her fingers down over the tattoos on his arms, "Tell me about them," she said simply. She listened to him explain about what the significance of each of his tattoos was, but as hard as she tried, she could not stay awake. Not long after, he heard her snoring quietly, and reached over to shut the bedside lamp off. He barely got settled back beside her before he dropped off to sleep.

"Hey, so I heard you and Storm are going out on a shopping mission today. What for?" Mark inquired as he threw on his shirt.

"Oh, you'll see. I could tell you now, but then I'd have to kill you, it being top secret and all," she said as she dodged his playful swat at her behind. "Don't you worry, I think that if all goes according to plan, you and Glenn will be very pleased." Just then, Glenn yelled up the stairs to hurry or they'd be late. The guys took off in the rental car to the arena and Storm and Rachel headed for the mall, speculating about the reactions they would get when "the boys" saw their surprises.

Glenn sighed; the mask was itching his face like crazy, but he had at least another hour before the signing would be done. "Damn, where are those women!" he muttered under his breath. He stole a look at Mark, who was at the next table, and from the expression on his face, Glenn knew he was more than slightly annoyed at them for not making an appearance yet. Or so he thought. Rachel and Storm were there, just far enough back in line that neither could be seen. They were giggling madly, trying their best not to be seen too early. It wasn't too hard, as both men were focused on signing whatever was sitting in front of them.

Finally, the two women reached the table. Mark held out his hand for whatever the item was to be signed, but looked up in surprise as Rachel put a small gift-wrapped box into his hands. He gave her an amused look, and began to open the package. Inside there was a very tiny pair of silk underwear, purple with black lace on the front panel. He raised an eyebrow at her, as she leaned over to say, "I thought you'd be interested to know that I am wearing the other half to the set." He took a deep breath to try and calm himself; she was wearing the bra, and she had been kind enough to lean over far enough to show him. In an instant, she was out of the line standing with security, just daring him to get up from that table and come after her. Mark heard Glenn start to chuckle, and he shot him a dirty look. As soon has he was done, he would find the closest dark closet and see if the bra was all she was wearing.

Storm nudged Rae, "Mission accomplished. I doubt this could have gone more smoothly if we tried."

Rachel giggled, "Yeah, now I hope I can make him behave long enough to get out of sight! God I wish I had a picture of his face when I bent over to show him the bra; I thought he was going to have a fit!"

Storm looked around, "Well, I figure, we'll make it as far as the first utility closet before all hell breaks loose. I really hope it's larger than the last one we ended up in."

Rachel turned to answer her, but just then she heard a voice behind her say, "All right sister, you started it, you'd better be ready to finish it!" She just gave him a "come hither" look and started to walk towards the service area. Oh yeah, you'd better believe I'm prepared to finish it, she thought as she pushed the door open...

Chapter 3 "Can't keep your hands out of trouble, can you?"

"You know I'm missing you, right?"

Rachel sighed and answered, "Yeah, me too, but you know that I can't leave to see you before the end of the week."

Mark asked in his sexiest voice, "Well what am I going to do until then? I guess I'm going to be taking a lot of cold showers."

The two of them spoke in hushed tones for a few minutes longer before Rachel had to go and meet an ambulance from a car wreck. After that, she was going non-stop through the rest of her shift, so she didn't have any time to mope until she was on her way home. I'm really going to have to make a decision one way or the other about this, she thought to herself. It was getting harder and harder to be away from Mark, and every time they spoke on the phone, he would tell her he wanted her on the road with him. But what about my career? I love medicine, and I can't imagine just traipsing around the country after Mark. What if I get bored, or things somehow don't work out? I waited so long to get into the hospital; there's no guarantee I can just glide back into emergency medicine. She shook her head and cursed herself for her overactive imagination. I'll have to take it one step at a time. She had two weeks vacation that she would spend 'on the road' with him, and she hoped that it would give her some insight as to which direction to take.

As she pulled into her driveway, she knew what she could do in the meantime. She dialed Storm's pager and left her a voice mail that she needed to talk. Rachel figured that if anybody could tell her what she was in for, Storm could. Her phone rang as she was making herself a mudslide. "Hello?"

"You rang?" Storm asked trying to do her best Addams family impression.

Rachel took a deep breath, not sure if she really wanted the answers to her questions. "Hey Storm? I'm sorry to bug you, but I need some information and I know you'll give it to me straight."

"Oh oh, did you guys fight again about going on the road? Which one of you thinks the other is cheating, hmmm?"

Rae laughed; Storm knew them so well. "Actually, we didn't fight about going on the road, but I guess I need to know exactly what I would be getting into, if I did it."

"Well, of course there's the bad restaurants, all the hotels, and the guys have about enough time to pee, but on the other hand, I figure I see Glenn more now than I did when he'd come home for two days out of every two weeks."

"Well, what about your career? I mean you gave up so much to go on the road, so what do you do while he's making appearances and stuff?"

Storm had to laugh, "Hey, being in info systems is a great way to make a living, and it's flexible too. I can pretty much 'telecommute' from wherever I am. Lately, I've been helping to maintain web sites and stuff along those lines, and you know that Titan has a great set up."

"So, what you're telling me is that it's worth it? You really gained more than you lost?"

"Definitely. I wouldn't have it any other way, I would go completely insane if I only saw my husband for the average eight days in a month."

"O.K., " Rachel began, "But what about me? I'm a flippin' ER doctor, and my career isn't that portable. I'm just so afraid that I'll drive Mark nuts because I'm bored out of my tree."

"Maybe you're getting ahead of yourself a little bit. Why don't you see how the next couple of weeks go, and that will give you some time to think. You might not even want to be on the road permanently. Then again, you never know what opportunities will present themselves."

Rachel tried to ask Storm something else, but just then she heard the phone drop and Storm yell at Glenn. He must have tried to grab the phone from her and dropped it. She heard him tell her to get away as he put the phone to his ear. "Hey how's my favorite doctor?"

"Better than you will be once Storm gets a hold of you!"

"Yeah, yeah, she'll get over it - ouch! Hey quit pinching me, will ya? Anyway, as I was going to say before I was so rudely interrupted, you need to do something with your man before I kill him!"

"And what is wrong with 'my man'?"

"Well, he looks like a hound that's had his favorite bone taken away, and I am so sick of hearing him sigh. He's pathetic." Rachel tried to get a mental picture of Mark moping around, but she just couldn't see it.

"Oh come on, he can't really be all that bad. Besides, I'll put him out of his misery this weekend, and you'll get a break."

"Oh, woohoo, happy birthday to me early," he groaned, "I'm telling you, I have never seen him like this before, and it's scary. So come on down and do whatever it is you two do and make him happy again." An evil grin spread across Rachel's face. Do whatever it is we do; hmmm, I like that idea.

"It would take us longer than two weeks to get through the repertoire, but I can always give it a try."

Glenn hassled her for a few more minutes before excusing himself to kiss up to Storm. Rachel smiled to herself. Those two hardly ever fought, and when they did they never stayed angry with each other for long. Maybe I am getting a little ahead of myself; I'll just have to see how it goes. She decided that she was too tired to make any coherent decisions, so she went to bed to get some much-needed sleep.

Mark was pacing back and forth backstage. She should be out there by now; God I can't wait to see her. He was so nervous that he thought he'd be sick. Why the hell am I so nervous about her seeing me work? For crying out loud she watches me every week on T.V. Maybe she's been polite to me all of this time and telling me that I didn't suck. Then he had to laugh at himself. Rachel never pulled punches - if she thought he'd sucked like the wind that night, she'd tell him. Of course she'd be tactful, but truthful. Just then, someone knocked on the door and told him it was time to go. As he walked down the ramp and to the ringside steps, he saw her in the front row and she stuck her tongue out at him. Better not do that unless you're prepared to use it, he thought to himself. Then he turned his attention to the matter at hand - Paul Wight.

Rachel winced every time she saw Mark hit the mat. She knew that it wasn't as serious as it looked, but she still cringed all the same. Pretty soon the rest of the Ministry came out, followed by the Union, and the match was declared no contest. After the show, she waited for the arena to clear out some before she got up to make her way backstage. She stopped a security guard and showed him her pass, asking for directions to the dressing room. He led her through the throng of people through the curtains next to the ramp, and pointed down the hallway. "He's in the first one to your right. Just knock before you go in, because I'm not sure if he's sharing or not."

She didn't have to knock, because Glenn found her long before she made it to the dressing room. He gave her a wink and grabbed an icepack from one of the medical staff. He handed it to her and said, "Go on in, he's waiting for you." Rae took the pack and knocked on the door anyway. She didn't want to catch him in a compromising position with any other staffers around. Somebody yelled 'come in', so she opened the door. Mark was sitting on a bench with his back to her, complaining that his back was spasming again. She snuck up behind him, handed off the ice pack to the guy standing next to him, and proceeded to give him a shoulder rub.

It only took about 20 seconds before Mark realized who it was giving him the massage. He reached around, grabbed her by the waist, and slung her into his lap, planting a big wet kiss on her lips. "Hey, thanks for the tongue, it was such an inspiration."

"Well, I aim to please." And please him I will, she thought wickedly.

They heard a crash outside. The door flew open and a panicked EMT yelled, "We need a doctor; we have a woman in labor!" Without thinking, Rachel jumped up and followed the EMT down the hall. He told her that there was a woman who was so intent on seeing the show, she foolishly did not tell anyone that her water had broken while she was in the ladies' room. As soon as Rachel saw the woman, her worst fears were confirmed: this woman was about to deliver, and the baby was breech. There was no time for her to be transferred, as the baby's foot was already presenting. Rachel introduced herself to the woman and her companion, and explained to them that the baby was coming too fast for her to make it to the hospital. As Rae prepared to try and push the foot back in so she could deliver the baby, she explained what she was doing and why to the mother. She did not like having to deliver like this, especially with a mother she'd never met. She knew that mom was scared, so she threw everybody out of the area except for the EMT's, and spoke to her in low soothing tones.

Ten minutes later, the baby was born, and she wrapped it in a blanket and laid it on the mom's chest. She watched the EMT's load her into the ambulance, and she made sure to give them her pager number in case they had any questions. She looked down at herself, and grimaced; it's a good thing I wasn't wearing my good clothes. She was covered in blood, but that was normal. She looked up when she heard a loud thud and saw one of the guys passed out cold on the floor. Mark handed her a T-shirt to change into, and she ducked into the room next to her to change. As soon as she finished she came out to find that the poor guy had been revived. It was Mankind, a.k.a. Mick Foley. He was still a little woozy, and as soon as he came to, he came up swinging. She helped Dr. Francois Petit calm him down until he realized where he was. Mick looked up at her weakly and said, "You'd think by now I'd be used to the sight of blood. Apparently, I have a problem when it's not my own."

Between Rae and the other medical staff, they were able to clean up the area in a short time. As they finished, Francois pulled her aside and complimented her on her quick thinking. Just as quickly as it all started, it was over and the staff moved on to the next crisis. Just then, Mark sauntered in and cocked an eyebrow at her; "You don't waste any time do you?"

She shot back, "Now what is that supposed to mean?" "Oh, only that Francois isn't usually so generous with his praise, and of course, you go right for the big gun."

Rachel giggled seductively; "Well I guess I can spot 'em, huh? As a matter of fact, I think I see another 'big gun' making an appearance right now." Mark grabbed her and threw her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and ran for the rental car.

He couldn't get her to his hotel room fast enough, and they darn near stripped each other in the hallway. She pulled him towards the bathroom and turned on the shower, purring contentedly as he kissed and nibbled at her neck. As they finished removing their clothes hurriedly, he took her hand and ever so gently kissed the palm. She then traced his lips with her fingers, her eyes never leaving his. "I'm afraid," she whispered.

He frowned with concern, "Why my love? Have I done something to hurt you?"

"No, I am just so happy right now, and I don't know how long it could possibly last. I once thought I was very much in love with someone, and you know how that turned out. You just seem too good to be true."

His eyes grew moist with her confession. He knew what she was feeling; he felt it too. This was so perfect, so right, but he knew she was waiting for it all to come to a crashing halt. He pulled her into his arms and held her close for a second, then he took her hand and placed it on his heart.

"Do you feel the way my heart is beating? As long as it beats, it beats only for you. I can't promise you that we won't see difficulty, or that things will always be this easy. I can promise you this: I love you so much sometimes it hurts. I can promise you that whatever obstacle the fates place in our path, I want to overcome - with you." Rachel was silently crying, tears making a path down her cheeks. No one had ever touched her like this, and she knew that she would have to give Mark her whole heart, and let him love her completely.

He picked her up and stepped into the shower, all the while raining light, fluttering kisses on her face. Their kisses deepened as their passion grew, and Rae broke the embrace to give him a wicked look, "I think you should know, I'm going for the 'big gun' now."

Later, she held him in the dark quiet of their room - he with his head on her chest, she stroking his forehead and hair. A smile played on her lips as he lazily traced circles on her belly. Their quiet contentment would not last for long, as the ring of the phone shattered the silence. Mark sighed as he leaned over to answer it, but his smile soon turned to a worried frown. Rae sat up, watching his face with concern, because she knew that whatever it was it couldn't be good. He put his hand over the receiver and said, "It's Vince. He said he has some questions about what happened tonight with the pregnant lady." The hairs on the back of Rachel's head stood up. Without a word, she took the phone, a rock forming at the pit of her stomach. She'd never really spoken to Vince, and she was sure that a call this late was not to shoot the sh*t

Chapter 4: The Brides Vs. The WWF

Rachel sat down on the edge of the bed, waiting for the inevitable. She knew that it had been risky delivering that baby, and was sure her not being on the Titan payroll didn't help matters. Mark was watching her from the other side of the bed, trying to gauge the mood of the conversation. "I hear that you made quite an impression tonight after the show," Vince began, "I'm sorry that I wasn't there to see it."

Rachel spoke as calmly as she could, in spite of the butterflies in her stomach. "Well, I guess, if you say so, but I was just doing my job."

"I don't recall you being employed by me, so how do you figure it's part of your job?" He coughed to cover up a laugh. He wanted to see just how secure she was and how she would respond to a little pressure.

Rachel got a little annoyed at his question, but tried not to let it show. "I may not be, but let me tell you something. When I took the Hippocratic oath, I vowed to do no harm. That does not mean, only where I am currently employed. It means anywhere I see a medical need arise, and if you had seen that poor woman, you wouldn't be questioning my motives or my ability." Oh that's great, she thought, let's just sound like God's gift to medicine.

By this time, Mark had gotten up and was pacing the room like a cat on the hunt. Rachel motioned for him to sit down next to her, because all of his pacing was distracting. Then Vince lowered the boom. "Well, I have to tell you that what you did tonight was not the way I like to run my organization. I figure if someone is going to work on anyone in the roster and the audience in an emergency situation, I should have some measure of control, don't you think? Here's the deal; you impressed the hell out of Francois, and that's no easy feat. If he's impressed, then I am too. We need another doc on staff that can deal with emergencies as they arise. Poor Francois has his hands full, and I know that he would kill me if I didn't offer you a position on the medical staff."

Her mouth fell open. He's offering me a job? Oh lord, what the heck do I say now? She gulped and answered him as best she could, "Vince that is a generous offer, but I can't give you an answer right now. I need to sleep on it and weigh my options carefully. What if I kind of 'audit' backstage tomorrow to get a better idea what a typical night is like?"

He smiled to himself. She's one smart cookie; not too many people would be so cautious, I like that. "I suppose I can allow that. I just hope that everyone is on their best behavior, and doesnt hassle you too much."

"Oh ,don't you worry about that; I thrive on people like that. The bigger the challenge, the more I like 'em!" He wished her a good night and she placed the receiver onto the cradle.

She was just sitting there with a smirk on her face, lost in her own thoughts. Suddenly, an exaggerated cough interrupted her. "Ahem, did you forget I was here? Are you going to tell me if I will get to have conjugal visits, or what?"

Rachel gave him a funny look. "What do you mean by that?"

"Light dawns on Marblehead; are you going to jail for what you did tonight or what?" She laughed and briefly explained the offer that Vince had made her. All Mark could do is raise an eyebrow evilly at her. "So, that means I could, say, come to see you for some extra special therapy?? Hmmm, I think I could get used to that!"

"Well I haven't made my decision yet. Quite frankly, I'm a little blown away by all of this. I mean, I have a great job at the hospital, and I love doing labor support. But, on the other hand, I miss you like hell all of the time, and that sucks. Of course, I have no idea what being on the road is like, and we might find that we get in each other's hair so much, that all we do is fight."

"Well, if we fight, then we can have unbelievable make up sex, now can't we?"

Rachel rolled her eyes, "Does everything with you begin and end with sex?"

"Hey, you weren't complaining a little while ago! Besides, I seem to remember you getting a very nice purple shirt out of the deal, so what do you have to complain about?" Then Mark pulled her close and spoke seriously, "I know that this is not an easy decision for you to make and that you would be making some huge changes, not always for the best. I love you for including me in making your decision, but that's just it. It's yours to make, not mine. You know I'd love to have you with me, and (his eyes twinkled) not just for 'sex'. You and I compliment each other in a way I can't describe, and I can only think that it will make us appreciate each other more. Actually, I figure I'll be getting the better end of the deal."

"Oh? How so?"

"I get my girlfriend full time and another doctor too."

"Oh yeah, a real two for one sale, huh?"

They talked well into the night. Not just about the job offer, but anything that came to mind. Finally, around 3:30 AM, Rachel heard soft snoring coming from Mark. She turned over and laid her head on his chest, letting sleep finally claim her.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Come on sleepyhead, you have to get up!"
Mark shook Rachel's shoulder gently. He had to laugh at the way she sat up, not knowing exactly where she was. Stretching her arms and yawning, she asked, "What city are we in today? Is this Thursday? Do I have time for a cup of coffee and a shower?"
"Slow down woman, jeez you're making my head hurt! Listen carefully. In order: we are in Greensboro, North Carolina. No it's not Thursday, it's Friday. Yes you do have time for a quick shower and a cup of coffee before we have to head off to that charity event at the softball field."
Rae nodded her head; now she remembered. They were having a softball game against the Brides of Kane and Brides of the Undertaker. She smiled and thought to herself,This ought to be fun. I know he has no idea that Storm and I are going to switch sides. "That's right, I forgot. It'll be great to finally meet all of the brides."
He looked at her incredulously, "You aren't the least bit threatened are you?"
"Disappointed? Hey I figure, I'm the one you crawl into bed with every night, so why worry? Besides, I figure they can give me some fresh ideas on how to please you, my Lord." She hardly got the last part of the sentence out, she was laughing so hard. He had to hand it to her, she'd come a long way since the cookout at his house. She was never so sure of herself before. Maybe it's time, he thought to himself, but I should still be careful with her.
